Found a PO box Salt Lake City return address and want to know who uses it? Short answer: mostly card issuers, lenders and insurers that run mail processing there. On the companies’ own websites, we confirmed that Capital One lists several Salt Lake City boxes for card mail and UnitedHealthcare lists Salt Lake City boxes for claims and appeals. We could not confirm who uses PO Box 30425 or PO Box 17316 from an official page. To check your letter, call the number on your own card or statement, not the number in the letter.
Who uses a PO box in Salt Lake City? What we could confirm
Salt Lake City return addresses show up on a lot of financial mail. That does not mean one company owns the city’s boxes. Many organizations rent boxes there, and each box has its own holder. The only honest way to answer “who uses this box” is one box at a time, with a source.
Our rule for this page is simple. We name a company for a Salt Lake City box only when that company’s own website lists that exact box. Lookup sites, forums and scraped directories do not count. They copy each other, and different lookup sites often name different companies for the same box number.
Here is where that rule left us on September 23, 2026:
| Sender type | What we found | Listed on the company’s own page? |
|---|---|---|
| Credit cards | Capital One lists several Salt Lake City boxes, one per purpose | Yes |
| Health insurance | UnitedHealthcare lists Salt Lake City boxes for claims, disputes and appeals | Yes, on its provider contact page |
| Annuities | SILAC Insurance Company lists PO Box 30245, not 30425 | Yes for 30245, no for 30425 |
| Fulfillment and direct mail | No company page tied to a Salt Lake City box | No |
The rest of this page walks through each row, then shows you how to check your own envelope.
Cards: Capital One’s Salt Lake City boxes, by purpose
Capital One’s Contact Us page, which we read on September 23, 2026, lists these Salt Lake City mailing addresses:
- General correspondence for credit cards, lines of credit and small business: PO Box 30285, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0285
- SCRA benefit requests (the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act): P.O. Box 30285, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0285
- Credit card disputes: P.O. Box 30279, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0279
- Suspected credit card fraud: P.O. Box 30277, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0277
- Misapplied credit card payments: P.O. Box 30287, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0287
- Personal loan correspondence: PO Box 30273, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0273
Three lessons come out of that list. First, one company can hold several neighboring boxes, each for one job. Seeing 30279 instead of 30285 does not mean a different company. It may mean a different department.
Second, a correspondence box is not a payment box. The same Capital One page sends mailed credit card payments to a box in Charlotte, North Carolina, not to Salt Lake City. Mixing the two up can delay a payment, so always use the payment address on your own statement.
Third, a real company address on an envelope does not prove the letter inside is real. Anyone can print a return address. If a letter with one of these boxes asks you to call, pay or confirm details, use the number on the back of your Capital One card or on your statement. Our guide to checking bank and card issuer PO boxes covers that step in more detail.
Insurance: UnitedHealthcare, and a SILAC number that does not match
Insurance mail is the second big group of Salt Lake City envelopes. Two insurers came up in our check, with very different results.
UnitedHealthcare
UnitedHealthcare’s provider contact page, read on September 23, 2026, lists several Salt Lake City PO boxes in the 84130 and 84131 ZIP codes. They are split by state and plan, for claims, claim disputes, and appeals and grievances. For example, it lists P.O. Box 30884, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0884 under California claims and medical records.
That page is written for doctors and hospitals, not members. So it shows UnitedHealthcare really does use Salt Lake City boxes. It does not tell you which box handles your plan.
If you have UnitedHealthcare coverage, do not mail anything to a box you found on a web page, including this one. Use the address printed on your own member ID card or in your plan documents, because different plans use different boxes. Our explainer on why health insurance mail comes from a PO box shows where to find that address on your card.
SILAC Insurance Company: 30245 on its page, not 30425
Many people search for PO Box 30425 in Salt Lake City and find it tied to SILAC Insurance Company, an annuity and insurance company whose main office is in Salt Lake City. We checked SILAC’s own contact page on September 23, 2026. It lists an annuity mailing address of PO Box 30245, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0245. The number 30425 does not appear on that page.
Those two numbers use the same five digits in a different order. From public pages alone, we cannot tell whether some letters really print 30425, whether 30425 is a typo copied from site to site, or whether 30425 is a separate box used by someone else. So our answer for PO Box 30425 is plain: we could not confirm who uses this box.
If your letter names SILAC, compare the box on your envelope with the one on SILAC’s page. Then call SILAC using a number from its own website or from your annuity contract, not a number printed in the letter.
Fulfillment and direct mail: what we could not confirm
Some Salt Lake City envelopes do not come straight from a bank or insurer. Direct-mail and fulfillment companies print and mail offers on behalf of other businesses. When that happens, the box on the outside can belong to the mailer while the offer inside comes from a different company.
PO Box 17316 is one Salt Lake City box readers ask about. We looked for a company website that lists it and found none. Under our rule, that means we could not confirm who uses this box, and we will not guess.
What you can do instead:
- Read the inside, not the outside. A credit or insurance offer names the company making it. Look that company up yourself and call the number on its official website.
- Check whether it is a prescreened offer. Prescreened credit offers carry a notice explaining how to opt out. The official opt-out site is OptOutPrescreen.com.
- Keep the envelope. If the offer turns out to be something you never asked for, the envelope and its box number are useful when you ask the company to stop.
Why so much financial mail comes from Salt Lake City
No official source we found gives a single reason, and any site that claims one should be read with care. What we can say:
- Utah is home to many industrial banks. An industrial bank is a type of FDIC-insured lender, and Utah’s Department of Financial Institutions charters and oversees them. A number of card and lending banks are based in and around Salt Lake City.
- Big companies split their mail by job. Capital One’s list above shows one company using separate Salt Lake City boxes for disputes, fraud, payment problems and general mail.
- A Utah box does not mean everything goes to Utah. The same Capital One contact page lists bank-by-mail deposits in Richmond, Virginia and card payments in Charlotte, North Carolina. One company, several states.
The practical point: a Salt Lake City return address is ordinary for financial and insurance mail. It is not evidence either way about whether a letter is genuine.

The Salt Lake City boxes we have covered
This index lists only the Salt Lake City boxes that have their own page on this site. Each row shows what we can say as of September 23, 2026.
| Box | What we can say today | Full page |
|---|---|---|
| PO Box 30425, Salt Lake City, UT | We could not confirm who uses this box on an official page. SILAC’s contact page lists PO Box 30245 instead. | PO Box 30425 Salt Lake City, Utah |
| PO Box 17316, Salt Lake City, UT | We could not confirm who uses this box on an official page. | P.O. Box 17316 Salt Lake City |
If your box is not on this list, the steps below still work.
How to check a Salt Lake City letter in five steps
- Copy the full address. Write down the box number, the ZIP code and the four digits after the dash, exactly as printed.
- Compare the box and the ZIP+4. In the Capital One, UnitedHealthcare and SILAC examples above, the last four digits of the ZIP+4 match the last four digits of the box, such as PO Box 30285 and 84130-0285. Treat that as a pattern we noticed, not a postal rule. A mismatch is a reason to look closer, not proof of fraud.
- Read the letter for the company name. Note any account number, claim number or policy number, and whether it matches something you actually have.
- Find the phone number yourself. Use the back of your card, your statement, your insurance ID card or the company’s official website. Never rely only on a number printed in the letter.
- Hold off on money and personal details. Do not pay, sign or send account or Social Security numbers until the company confirms the letter on a call you placed. If the letter turns out to be fake, you can report mail fraud to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
What a lookup page cannot tell you
A page like this one has limits, and you should know them.
- USPS does not publish a public directory of who rents each PO box. Any site that claims to have the full list is guessing or copying.
- A box can change hands. An identification that was right two years ago may be wrong now. That is why this page carries a last-checked date.
- A real address does not make a letter real. Scammers can print a genuine company’s return address. The address only tells you where replies should go.
- We cannot see your account. Only the company can tell you whether a letter about your card, claim or annuity is genuine.
We would rather tell you “we could not confirm this” than put a company’s name on a box and be wrong about it.
Frequently asked questions
Who uses PO boxes in Salt Lake City, Utah?
Many organizations do, especially card issuers, lenders and insurers. On their own websites, Capital One lists several Salt Lake City boxes for card mail, and UnitedHealthcare lists Salt Lake City boxes for claims and appeals. Each box has its own holder, so check your exact box number.
Is mail from a Salt Lake City PO box a scam?
A Salt Lake City return address is common on genuine financial and insurance mail, so the city alone tells you nothing either way. Check the letter by calling the company on a number you found yourself, such as the one on your card or statement.
Who uses PO Box 30285 in Salt Lake City?
Capital One’s own Contact Us page lists PO Box 30285, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0285 for general correspondence about credit cards, lines of credit and small business accounts, and for SCRA requests. We read it on September 23, 2026. It is not the address for mailed card payments.
Should I mail my insurance claim to a Salt Lake City PO box I found online?
No. Use the claims address on your own member ID card or in your plan documents. Insurers often use different boxes for different plans and states, so a box from a web page may not be the right one for you.
Why can’t you tell me who uses PO Box 30425 or 17316?
We name a sender only when the company’s own website lists that exact box. For 30425 and 17316 we found no such page. SILAC’s contact page lists a similar number, 30245, but not 30425.
